This is a full-time Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) position in the Med/Surg Oncology unit at Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center. The role involves assisting Registered Nurses (RNs) with the daily care of patients, including bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and ambulation. Responsibilities also include measuring and documenting vital signs, intake and output, and patient data in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR). The CNA will perform purposeful rounding, assist with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, and ensure patient call lights are always within reach. Specimen collection, point-of-care testing, and maintaining stock for the nursing area are also key duties. The position requires performing patient positioning and transporting duties, assisting with nutritional needs, and maintaining skin integrity. Depending on unit requirements and under RN direction, tasks may include IV removal, post-mortem care, and bladder scans. Adherence to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and aseptic procedures, is crucial. The role requires demonstrating knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care, understanding growth and development principles, and assessing patient needs based on age-specific requirements.
