About The Position

This role involves providing direct patient care to a variety of patients, including those with complex medical needs. The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) will perform essential daily living activities, monitor vital signs, maintain patient comfort and hygiene, and ensure a safe environment. The position requires adherence to strict confidentiality and resident rights, effective communication with the healthcare team, and a commitment to continuous improvement and teamwork. The CNA will also be responsible for tasks such as preparing food trays, sterilizing equipment, and assisting with patient mobility and transfers.

Requirements

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand the English language.
  • Current Massachusetts Nurse’s aide certification.
  • Basic Life Support Certification for Health Care Providers within 30-days of start date.
  • Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age-related needs of the residents served.
  • Must maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information including protected health information.
  • Report known or suspected incidents of unauthorized disclosure of such information; and adhere to Resident’s rights.
  • Monitor, Observe, and report changes in patients medical status to Licensed RN.
  • Must be a supportive team member, contribute to and be an example of teamwork and team concept.
  • Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action.
  • Must have knowledge of therapeutic diets.
  • Must possess the ability to deal tactfully with personnel, residents, family members, visitors, government agencies/personnel, and the general public.
  • Must possess the ability and willingness to work harmoniously with other personnel.
  • Must have patience, tact, a cheerful disposition and enthusiasm, as well as the willingness to handle difficult residents.
  • Must be willing to seek out new methods and principles and be willing to incorporate them into existing nursing practices.
  • Must be able to relate information concerning a resident’s condition.
  • Challenges current working practices.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with current office technology, proficient with computer office applications (Electronic Medical/Health Records, MS Office, etc.) preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Dresses, grooms, bathes, feeds, takes and records vital signs of patients.
  • Completes all ADL functions and documentation of such.
  • Answers call lights, assists in toileting, oral care, nail care, catheter care, assists patients in wheelchairs, transports, turns bedridden patients, reports patient changes, and takes out trash.
  • Provides simple or uncomplicated patient care while caring for medically complex patients/residents requiring specialized treatment and services.
  • Bathes and dresses bed patients, combs hair, and otherwise attends to their comfort and personal appearance.
  • Cleans room and changes bed linen.
  • Takes and records temperature, pulse, and respiration rate.
  • Sterilizes equipment and supplies, using germicides or sterilizers.
  • Prepares food trays, feeds patients, and records food and liquid intake and output.
  • Maintains patient safety when caring for patients with oxygen therapy, IV Infusion Therapy, saline locks, traction, G-Tubes, NG Tubes, catheters, and CPM Machines.
  • Distributes meals/nourishments according to the specific order.
  • Performs other work related / personal nursing care duties as requested.
  • Identifies process improvement opportunities and presents recommendations and solutions to management.
  • Actively participates, supports, and promotes CCHC Pillars of Excellence.
