Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA/PCT) - SRNA/PRN
About The Position
Tele 4 is a 10-bed telemetry unit specializing in general medical surgical and telemetry patients including pneumonia, ESRD, Stroke, CHF, and chest pain. It also cares for post-operative patients from GU, Urology, Orthopedics, Bariatrics, and Heart Cath/PCI. The patient population often has multiple co-morbidities and complex care needs, with admissions/transfers from ICU, ED, and PACU. Tele 3 is a 22-bed telemetry unit with similar specializations and patient population. Under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse (RN) or other licensed care team member, the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides direct and indirect patient care. The CNA delivers excellence in patient care while respecting human dignity and the uniqueness of everyone. Empathy, compassion, communication, and teamwork are essential in the PCT-nurse-patient relationship.
Requirements
- Current Kentucky Nurse Aide Certification required or successful completion of first year of a Nursing program and validation of a clinical rotation consistent with level of education.
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Basic Life Support (must be obtained within 30 days of hire)
Responsibilities
- Performs direct patient care and related tasks as outlined by scope of practice.
- Assist patients in personal hygiene activities such as bathing, dental and oral care, hair, and nail care.
- Assist patients with bowel and bladder functions while maintaining dignity.
- Records patient intake and output (I & O).
- Collects, labels, and transports specimens for laboratory analysis.
- Changes and transports soiled and contaminated linens according to procedure.
- Maintains clean and tidy patient room/environment.
- Assist patients with activity, turning and repositioning as indicated by provider order and in collaboration with the nurse.
- Communicates pertinent patient information/findings to patient’s nurse.
- Sets priorities for the care of multiple patients.
