About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) in the Medical-Surgical Unit provides direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). The CNA assists patients with activities of daily living, monitors and documents patient information, and supports the healthcare team in delivering high-quality, compassionate care to patients with a variety of medical conditions. The Medical-Surgical Unit is a fast-paced environment caring for patients with acute and chronic medical conditions, post-surgical recovery needs, and various treatment plans. The CNA plays a vital role in promoting patient comfort, safety, and positive outcomes through compassionate, patient-centered care.

Requirements

  • Current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification required.
  • Current CPR certification required.
  • BLS Required

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Clinical experience in an acute care environment preferred.
  • Interpersonal skills used to effectively communicate; ability to problem solve; ability to cope when dealing with patients and physicians.

Responsibilities

  • Documents vital signs, intakes, outputs, heights, weights, and dietary intake.
  • Provides a safe patient care environment, which is stocked, clean and organized.
  • Assesses discharge-planning needs and notifies appropriate personnel.
  • Interacts with patient and families appropriate to age of patient; delivers care according to age and developmental level of patient.
  • Demonstrates flexibility as patient needs change.
  • Performs proficiently in a calm and professional manner during crisis or emergency situations.
  • Achieves quality performance when adapting to new routines, procedures and skills.
  • Uses the problem solving process to provide quality care based on the assessed need of the patient.
  • Assist with HCAPHs scores and patient satisfaction.
