Adventist HealthCare seeks to hire students for our Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Academy who will embrace our mission to extend God’s care through the ministry of physical, mental, and spiritual healing. The next two cohorts will start on July 6th and September 14th, 2026. Upon successful completion of the six-week course, including clinicals, and receiving certification as a licensed CNA from the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON), you will be promoted to a department at one of our four acute care entities: Shady Grove Medical Center, White Oak Medical Center, AHC Rehabilitation (Acute Rehab), and Fort Washington Medical Center. As a CNA Student, you will desire certification as a nursing assistant and engage in professional development through participation in the Adventist HealthCare Certified Nursing Assistant Training Program. You will develop the clinical competence required of the certified nursing assistant (CNA) role, leading to successful performance in the CNA role at Adventist HealthCare. Clinical competence will be developed through a variety of modalities, including classroom, simulation, and clinical application of learning on patient care units, with clinical hours overseen by an educator. Clinical competence includes technical skills (e.g., VS, Accu-check, mobility devices, activities of daily living, feeding) and interpersonal skills (e.g., building relationships with patients and team members). You will demonstrate a positive outlook on safety, lifelong learning, professionalism, and patient experience throughout the program. Upon completion, CNA graduates will continue employment at one of the four AHC assigned entities as a licensed CNA with an AHC employment commitment of 12 months. This program has no program fees, and CNA trainees are full-time compensated AHC employees. The program offers a quality classroom learning experience, so trainees learn best practices for clinical outcomes and patient experience, as well as real-life clinical training in a hospital setting so trainees can learn practical, real-world skills. Training materials and two sets of scrubs are provided. No prior patient care experience is necessary.
