Adventist HealthCare seeks to hire students for its Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Academy, a program designed for individuals who desire certification as a nursing assistant and wish to engage in professional development. The academy offers a six-week training program, with upcoming cohorts starting on July 6th and September 14th, 2026. This program includes four weeks of classroom coursework and two weeks of clinical application on patient care units, with clinical hours overseen by an educator. The coursework takes place Monday through Friday from 8am to 4:30pm at the Shady Grove Medical Center Sim Lab in Rockville. Clinicals involve three 12-hour shifts per week, split between Shady Grove Medical Center (Rockville) and White Oak Medical Center (Silver Spring). Upon successful completion of the course and receiving certification as a licensed CNA from the Maryland Board of Nursing (MBON) after passing the state board exam, students will be promoted to a licensed CNA role at one of Adventist HealthCare's four acute care entities: Shady Grove Medical Center, White Oak Medical Center, AHC Rehabilitation, or Fort Washington Medical Center. CNA trainees are full-time compensated Adventist HealthCare employees, and there are no program fees. The academy provides a quality classroom learning experience, real-life clinical training in a hospital setting, training materials, and two sets of scrubs. No prior patient care experience is necessary for this program. Graduates are expected to commit to 12 months of employment as a licensed CNA with Adventist HealthCare.
