The Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) provides basic nursing care, within their scope of practice, to patients under the direction of the Staff RN or LPN. The primary duties of the C.N.A. are to assist patients with activities of daily living and to provide basic patient care needs and comfort. They may assist the nursing staff with the development of the patient care plan. The C.N.A. will demonstrate safe and competent nursing care, reflective of the philosophy and standards of Gritman Medical Center, following the guidelines and rules set forth by the Idaho State Board of Nursing, American Nurses’ Association, and the Joint Commission for the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations. They will communicate effectively with other care givers and function as a member of the patient care team. They are directly accountable to the staff nurse and will report patient outcomes as appropriate. The C.N.A. will have and maintain adequate physical and mental health to meet job performance criteria. The C.N.A. will demonstrate a code of conduct reflective of Gritman Medical Center’s mission, vision, and values.
