About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) provides essential support within a behavioral health setting, working under the supervision of licensed nursing staff to deliver safe, compassionate, and patient-centered care. This role may also include continuous patient observation (sitter responsibilities) to ensure patient safety and well-being.

Requirements

  • Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification
  • Minimum of 1 year CNA experience preferred (behavioral health experience strongly preferred)
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle challenging behaviors with professionalism, empathy, and composure
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Deliver direct patient care under the direction of licensed nursing personnel
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and feeding
  • Observe, monitor, and promptly report changes in patient behavior, condition, or vital signs
  • Maintain a safe, structured, and therapeutic environment for behavioral health patients
  • Perform continuous observation/sitter duties for high-risk patients as assigned
  • Support de-escalation techniques and adhere to behavioral health safety protocols
  • Accurately document patient care activities in a timely manner
  • Collaborate effectively with the interdisciplinary healthcare team
