About The Position

Navitas Healthcare, LLC is seeking a compassionate and dedicated Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) to join a Behavioral Health Unit in Gardner, MA. In this role, you will provide direct patient care and support individuals with psychiatric and behavioral health needs while maintaining a safe, respectful, and therapeutic environment.

Requirements

  • Active Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification (Massachusetts required) OR one of the following: Completion of at least 75 hours in an accredited nursing program (including first clinical rotation)
  • Active EMT or Paramedic certification
  • Active Patient Care Technician/Assistant certification
  • Active Home Health Aide certification
  • AHA CPR certification (required within 60 days of hire)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience in a long-term care or healthcare setting preferred
  • Experience or interest in behavioral/psychiatric patient care
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to handle high-stress situations and behavioral challenges
  • Compassionate, patient-centered approach to care
  • Availability to work evening shifts, weekends, and in a team-based environment

Responsibilities

  • Provide direct patient care under the supervision of a licensed nurse
  • Assist patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including hygiene, toileting, feeding, and mobility
  • Collect and report basic patient health data as directed
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient care
  • Monitor patient safety and perform routine safety checks on the unit
  • Assist in managing and de-escalating disruptive or potentially violent behavior
  • Provide 1:1 patient observation when required
  • Support patients in maintaining dignity, hygiene, and appropriate grooming
  • Transport patients to tests and other departments as needed
  • Participate in patient activities, group sessions, and therapeutic programs
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment
  • Communicate effectively with nurses and interdisciplinary team members
  • Assist with laundering and maintaining patient belongings
  • Monitor patient activity in common areas for overall safety
