This role serves as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) Advanced, requiring unit competency and orientation. The position involves overseeing a team of CNAs, acting as a mentor to new hires and a resource to all CNA staff. Key responsibilities include monitoring CNA patient assignments, providing input to the Charge Nurse, and overseeing CNA orientation under the direction of the department educator. The role also involves educating new CNAs on departmental procedures, safety, and health issues, coaching for improvement, and ensuring the quality of CNA services to patients and families. The CNA Advanced will collaborate with support services, bring concerns and new ideas to the unit manager, report staff behavioral concerns, and provide constructive feedback during evaluations. Documentation of patient care (food consumption, bowel movements, movement) is required, along with identifying and following through with patients' special needs or requests. The position requires attending patient satisfaction meetings, serving as a liaison to nursing management and new CNA partners, and assisting leadership in identifying process improvement opportunities. Additional duties include processing patient charges, ordering supplies, answering phones and call lights, participating in performance improvement activities, serving as a role model for Critical Moments of Service standards, completing occurrence reports, and maintaining bulletin boards. The CNA Advanced will also work as a CNA as staffing requires and complete special projects as assigned.
