About The Position

The Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) plays a vital role in delivering compassionate and high-quality care to members (residents) at the Firefighter's Home (Home). This position focuses on assisting members with daily living activities, ensuring their comfort, safety, and dignity while supporting the nursing staff. The CNA will be responsible for monitoring members' health status, reporting changes to the nursing team, and providing emotional support to members and their families. By performing essential clinical and non-clinical tasks, the CNA contributes significantly to the overall member care experience and the efficient operation of healthcare facilities. This role requires a commitment to member-centered care, adherence to healthcare regulations, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Requirements

  • Current and valid Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certification recognized in the United States.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Completion of a state-approved CNA training program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or CPR certification.
  • Ability to pass a background check and meet health screening requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for interacting compassionately with members and collaborating with healthcare team members.
  • Attention to detail and the ability to accurately record vital signs and member information support clinical decision-making and continuity of care.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working as a CNA in a nursing home, or long-term care facility.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems.
  • Strong communication skills and experience working with diverse patient populations.
  • Ability to work well in a team setting
  • Familiarity with electronic health records enhance efficiency in documentation and information sharing.

Responsibilities

  • Assist members with activities of daily living such as bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and feeding.
  • Measure and record vital signs including temperature, pulse, respiration, and blood pressure accurately.
  • Help members move safely, including transferring them between beds, wheelchairs, and other locations.
  • Observe and report any changes in members’ physical or emotional condition to the nursing staff promptly.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for patients by following infection control protocols and facility policies.
  • Support members emotionally by providing companionship and responding to their needs with empathy and respect.
  • Assist nursing staff with medical procedures and documentation as directed.
  • Ensure proper use and maintenance of medical equipment and supplies.
