About The Position

Our OB/GYN department is seeking a motivated, part-time or full-time (0.75-1.0 FTE) Certified Nurse Midwife to join the team at our 32nd Avenue Campus. This collegial group is the most experienced team in the area, well-respected and well-received within the Fargo-Moorhead community and greater region, allowing for a busy practice setting with continued growth opportunities. The current team consists of mix of Physicians, 6 CNMs and NPs. Our cohesive team collaborates to provide high-quality, dedicated care that is both efficient and effective for the growing families of our region. The certified nurse midwife performs full-scope midwifery care that focuses on pregnancy, childbirth, the post-partum period and the family planning and gynecological needs of women. The CNM team has an autonomous practice and works collaboratively with OB/GYN physicians and our Maternal Fetal Medicine physician to care for patients. They will also provide antepartum, postpartum and gynecologic care to women across their lifespan.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years nursing experience in an applicable clinical area.
  • Certified Nurse Midwife
  • Position requires licensure in both ND & MN
  • Strong communication skills required
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in both ND & MN
  • Current Licensure identifying practitioner as a certified nurse midwife in both ND & MN.
  • Hold membership with the American Midwifery Certification Board.
  • Current certification in CPR.
  • National certification, in applicable area
  • Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice.
  • Must have a current North Dakota RN license identifying practitioner as a certified nurse midwife and be an active member of American College of Nurse Midwives.
  • Current licensure as a registered nurse in appropriate state.
  • Current certification in CPR.
  • National certification from the American Midwifery Certification Board (AMCB).
  • Successful completion of Essentia Health credentialing process prior to practice.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s Degree in nurse midwifery and/or an accredited and certified registered nurse midwifery program as approved by the American College of Nurse Midwives.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitates the attainment and maintenance of an optimal level of health for essentially normal women which includes antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, gynecological, health maintenance and minor acute illness care.
  • Provides initial and ongoing assessment for suitability of traditional midwifery care.
  • Provides prenatal education and coordinating with a licensed health care provider as necessary to provide comprehensive prenatal care, including the routine monitoring of vital signs, indicators of fetal developments, and laboratory tests, as needed, with attention to the physical, nutritional, and emotional needs of the woman and her family.
  • Attends and supports the natural process of labor and birth.
  • Provides postpartum care of the mother and an initial assessment of the newborn.
  • Provides information and referrals to community resources on childbirth preparation, breast-feeding exercise, nutrition, parenting, and care of the newborn.
  • Cares for patients as noted on age-related category.
  • Assists with cesarean deliveries.
  • May provide outreach in future.
