About The Position

The West Virginia University School of Medicine and the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences seek a Certified Nurse Midwife. The successful candidate will be expected to practice in Buckhannon, West Virginia. Our midwives collaboratively practice with faculty OBGYN Specialists, Uro-Gynecologists, and MFM Specialists allowing complete care for midwifery patients. OB and Off-Service (Family Medicine, ER, and Anesthesia) resident teaching, in both clinical setting and lecture format are an important component of the job. Medical and nursing student teaching, as well as Advanced Practice Nurse preceptorship add to this challenging position. Faculty midwifes at WVU Medicine are committed to providing comprehensive care to women utilizing the latest advancements in medical technology and evidence-based practices. They collaborate closely with a multidisciplinary team of specialists to deliver personalized and compassionate care to our patients. They also engage in cutting-edge research and scholarly activities aimed at advancing the field of OBGYN and Reproductive Sciences and improving clinical outcomes. Faculty midwifes play a pivotal role in educating and mentoring medical students, and residents helping to shape the future generation of healthcare leaders. Responsibilities

  • Practice collaboratively with faculty OBGYN Specialists, Uro-Gynecologists, and MFM Specialists.
  • Provide complete care for midwifery patients.
  • Teach OB and Off-Service residents (Family Medicine, ER, and Anesthesia) in clinical settings and lecture format.
  • Teach medical and nursing students.
  • Precept Advanced Practice Nurse students.
  • Provide comprehensive care to women utilizing the latest advancements in medical technology and evidence-based practices.
