This role exists so people enter the moment of birth informed, respected, and clinically safe—and leave it with a plan they can live with. You will own the full arc of midwifery care: pregnancy, labor, birth, postpartum, and the decisions that sit between them. Success is measured in healthy outcomes, calm rooms, and families who know exactly what happened and why. You will practice in a collaborative obstetric team with 24-hour physician backup, dedicated labor nurses, and access to operating rooms, neonatal support, and standard fetal monitoring. Charting, order entry, and quality dashboards live in the hospital EHR. You report to the midwifery or women’s health clinical lead and practice under a collaborative agreement aligned to state scope. Call is shared; orientation includes unit protocols, simulation, and a named preceptor until you are independently credentialed.
