Eastern Shawnee Staffing Services, in partnership with the Indian Health Service (IHS), is seeking dedicated WHNPs and CNMs for a long-term contract assignment at the Chinle Comprehensive Health Care Facility. Learn more about the facility: https://www.ihs.gov/navajo/healthcarefacilities/chinle/ Position Overview The WHNP or CNM will provide comprehensive women’s health services across the lifespan, including prenatal, postpartum, gynecologic, and reproductive health care. CNMs may also provide labor and delivery management for appropriate-risk patients within scope.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Women’s Health Nurse Practitioner (WHNP) program or Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) program
  • Board Certified WHNP or CNM (required)
  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience in women’s health, OB-GYN, prenatal, postpartum, or labor & delivery required
  • Active, unrestricted license in any U.S. state or territory
  • Active DEA registration (if prescribing within scope)
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required for CNMs
  • Must be a U.S. citizen residing primarily in the United States
  • Must be able to pass a federal background/security clearance
  • Proof of education (diploma or transcripts required)

Nice To Haves

  • Previous locum tenens experience preferred
  • Experience with Indian Health Service (IHS) or tribal healthcare systems preferred
  • Experience working in rural or underserved communities strongly preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive women’s health care including prenatal, postpartum, and gynecologic services
  • Conduct routine exams, screenings, and preventive care across the lifespan
  • Manage labor and delivery care (for CNMs), including low- to moderate-risk pregnancies
  • Diagnose and treat acute and chronic women’s health conditions
  • Order and interpret labs, imaging, and diagnostic testing
  • Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and interdisciplinary teams
  • Provide patient education on reproductive health, family planning, and wellness
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant EHR documentation
  • Follow all IHS policies, safety protocols, and clinical guidelines
  • Participate in quality improvement and patient safety initiatives
  • Deliver culturally competent care to diverse populations
