Certified Nurse Midwife functions as a primary healthcare provider for women and most often provides medical care for relatively healthy women, whose births are considered uncomplicated and not "high risk," as well as their neonates, including ante-partum, intra-partum, postpartum and nonsurgical gynecological care. (In hospital deliveries) Nurse Practitioner will provide ambulatory primary care for out-patients with chronic medical conditions as well as acute episodic illness. Clinical activities include but are not limited to physical examination, health and psychological history-taking, clinical evaluation, ordering and interpreting diagnostic testing, development and implementation of treatment plans, and patient education (as described in Practice Agreement).
