About The Position

Saint Peter’s University Hospital is seeking a full-time Certified Nurse Midwife (CNM) Hospitalist to provide coverage for Labor & Delivery and the PET OB/GYN units. The CNM will function independently, in collaboration with the attending physician and the interdisciplinary healthcare team, to deliver midwifery services to inpatients. This role involves the assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nurse midwifery care for antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and newborn patients. The position requires working various shifts within the Labor and Delivery and PET units, providing care for intrapartum patients, and supporting the Ob/Gyn physician team as needed.

Requirements

  • Graduation from a nurse-midwifery education program accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (ACME)
  • Master's or doctoral degree
  • Current CDS and DEA required
  • Current active certification by the American Midwifery Certification Board or be actively seeking initial certification and obtain the same on the first certification for which they are eligible
  • Current active licensure to practice as a Certified Nurse Midwife in the nurse midwife category as per the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider (NRP) certified
  • Current BLS and ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Provider I (NRP) certification required, as approved by the American Heart Association
  • NRP II (Neonatal Resuscitation Provider II) certification to be obtained during clinical orientation

Responsibilities

  • Function independently but in collaboration with the attending physician and interdisciplinary healthcare team to provide midwifery services to inpatients
  • Responsible for the assessment, plan, implementation, and evaluation of nurse midwifery care delivered to the antepartum, intrapartum and post-partum and newborn patients
  • Provide services on varying shifts within the department in Labor and Delivery, PET Unit
  • Care for intrapartum patients at the hospital in Labor and Delivery, PET and as needed by the Ob/Gyn physician team
