The ideal candidates will have senior living experience (e.g., long-term care, assisted living, memory support) and a passion for working with an elderly population. Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old with a high school diploma or GED.
  • Current CNA certification in the Commonwealth of Virginia and CPR/First Aid certification required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of relevant work experience; long-term care preferred.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, medical records, and medical equipment/supplies.
  • Positive, engaging demeanor with interest in working with elderly or disabled individuals.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions accurately and promptly.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with staff, residents, families, and visitors.
  • Physically able to lift 50 lbs. and perform tasks including standing, walking, bending, reaching, and other mobility activities.

Responsibilities

  • Follow individualized care plans, report changes in resident condition to nursing staff, and document all care by shift end.
  • Check and record vital signs, weights, bowel/bladder needs, and intake/output for monitored residents.
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, feeding, toileting, and oral care.
  • Perform restorative nursing and preventive care, including positioning, ADL training, passive range of motion, and skin care for high-risk residents.
  • Support residents’ cognitive and social needs through reality orientation, redirection, validation, and recreational activities.
  • Assist with safe transfers, ambulation, lifting, and use of mobility devices, ensuring proper body mechanics.
  • Aid in resident admissions, discharges, transportation, urgent needs, and post-mortem care per facility procedures.
  • Participate in training, staff meetings, and perform other duties as assigned.
