About The Position
The County of San Diego, Health & Human Services Agency (HHSA) has immediate openings for Certified Nurse Assistants. This position assists with patient care including bathing and feeding, maintaining supplies, and guiding patients through daily routines. Duties also include assisting with confused, agitated, disturbed, or combative patients, observing and reporting patient behavior, recording observations and documenting patient condition and progress, and assisting other staff in setting up and directing recreational activities. The current vacancies are at the Edgemoor Distinct Part-Skilled Nursing Facility (DP/SNF) and the San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital. Edgemoor is a FIVE STAR facility providing 24-hour long term skilled nursing care. San Diego County Psychiatric Hospital is a Joint Commission Accredited, publicly funded, free-standing 24-hour psychiatric hospital providing psychiatric evaluation and crisis intervention-oriented acute treatment for adult residents.
Requirements
- Possession of a California Nurses Assistant Certificate issued by the California Department of Public Health is required at time of appointment.
- Anticipated completion date of training and licensure at the end of the current semester or training period.
- A current healthcare provider CPR card is required at time of appointment.
Responsibilities
- Assist with patient care including bathing and feeding.
- Maintain supplies in a clean and orderly manner.
- Guide patients through daily routines.
- Assist with handling confused, agitated, disturbed or combative patients.
- Observe patient behavior and report observations to professional staff.
- Record observations and document the patient's condition and progress in the patient's medical record.
- Assist other staff in setting up and directing recreational activities for patients.
