About The Position

CoxHealth is seeking a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) or Nurse Assistant Trainee to join their team on the 900 East Medical Surgical unit. This unit specializes in post-operative care for gastrointestinal (GI) and genitourinary (GU) surgical patients, and is recognized as a Center of Excellence for bariatric surgery. The unit has 30 beds and offers a combination of private and semi-private rooms. While telemetry or cardiac monitoring is not provided, the team focuses on high-quality, patient-centered care with an emphasis on collaboration and teamwork. The role involves providing basic patient care under the direction of nursing staff, including taking vital signs, bathing, dressing, moving patients, and changing linens. The CNA will also obtain and report changes in patient condition to nursing staff. For qualified candidates, there is a sign-on bonus of up to $6,000, up to 40 hours of front-loaded Paid Time Off, and a relocation bonus of up to $3,000. A $3 shift differential is also offered for night shifts. A career ladder is available up to $1.

Requirements

  • 3 months experience as a nursing assistant in an inpatient or long-term care setting, EMT, or Surgical Technologist in the past 3 years OR Completed an Unlicensed Assistive Personnel Program within the past 3 years OR Completed the “fundamentals of nursing” course with clinical in an accredited nursing program or practical nursing education program OR Must have Missouri CNA License OR Must have MO CNA Appendix AND MO CNA license must be obtained within 120 days of hire
  • BLS must be obtained within 90 days
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Exhibits valuable time management skills
  • Strong analytical/problem solving skills.
  • Flexibility and ability to work in a multi-tasking environment.
  • Is available for work on a consistent and timely basis
  • Conscientious, thorough, accurate, and reliable when performing and completing job tasks

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Prior patient care or health care related experience

Responsibilities

  • Provide basic patient care under direction of nursing staff.
  • Perform duties such as take vitals, bathe, dress, move patients, change linens and other duties as assigned.
  • Obtains information on patient condition as requested by the nursing staff, and reports any changes in patient condition.
