About The Position

Ashe Memorial Hospital is seeking a Certified Midwife to provide comprehensive women’s healthcare services including prenatal, postpartum, gynecologic, and preventative care while supporting continuity of care between patient visits. This position works collaboratively with physicians, nursing staff, and interdisciplinary teams to deliver patient-centered care for women across the lifespan. The ideal candidate is compassionate, clinically confident, and committed to providing exceptional care to women, infants, and families in both routine and emergent situations. The patient population served includes infants, pediatric patients, adolescents, adult women’s health patients, obstetric patients (antepartum and postpartum), families and visitors, and physicians and staff.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Nurse Midwife Program required
  • Current Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of North Carolina required
  • Current Nurse Midwife license in the State of North Carolina required
  • Current BLS certification required
  • ACLS certification required
  • PALS certification required
  • NRP certification required
  • Ability to read, write, and communicate effectively in English
  • Basic computer proficiency required
  • Strong patient and guest relations skills
  • Ability to function effectively in stressful and emergency situations
  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills
  • Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and patient-centered care
  • Communicate effectively with patients, families, providers, and staff
  • Adapt positively to changing clinical demands and workflow needs
  • Support a collaborative and respectful team environment
  • Maintain current clinical competencies and regulatory compliance standards
  • Annual Health & Safety Inservice (ADI)
  • Annual Employee Health Screening
  • Back Safety and Body Mechanics training
  • Age-Specific Competency requirements
  • Must be willing to receive all required vaccinations unless an approved exemption has been granted

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of Lactation Educator Training Program preferred
  • Previous healthcare experience preferred
