About The Position

Americare Senior Living is seeking a dedicated Certified Medication Technician (CMT) to provide safe, accurate medication administration and compassionate resident care within our skilled nursing community. In this role, you’ll play a critical part in supporting residents’ health, safety, and quality of life by administering medications, assisting with daily living activities, and collaborating closely with licensed nursing staff in a clinical environment. The Certified Medication Technician (CMT) is responsible for administering prescribed medications and supporting residents with activities of daily living in accordance with state regulations, physician orders, and Americare policies. This role works as part of the interdisciplinary care team to promote resident safety, accurate documentation, and person-centered care in a skilled nursing setting. This role may also be known as: Certified Medication Aide (CMA), Medication Technician (CMT), Med Aide, Med Tech, or Medication Assistant.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Completion of a Certified Medication Technician (CMT) course approved by the State of Missouri
  • Active CMT certification in good standing, with annual updates as required
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary care team
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to medication safety
  • Compassionate, resident-focused approach to care
  • Clear communication skills and professionalism
  • Follow proper resident care procedures, including two-person lifts when required
  • Utilize required PPE to prevent exposure to bloodborne pathogens
  • Report work-related injuries immediately and complete required documentation
  • Participate in company drug testing procedures

Responsibilities

  • Administer prescribed medications under the supervision of licensed nursing staff
  • Verify resident identity prior to medication administration and document dosage, time, and observations
  • Monitor residents for medication responses and promptly report adverse reactions or concerns
  • Assist residents with activities of daily living, including personal hygiene, meals, and mobility
  • Recognize and report changes in resident condition to charge staff
  • Take and record vital signs and report abnormalities per facility policy
  • Identify medication shortages and immediately report concerns to the supervisor
  • Maintain accurate documentation related to resident care, intake, and output as ordered
  • Support coworkers by providing assistance as needed
  • Complete admission, discharge, and transfer documentation as required
