About The Position

The Certified Medication Aide supports resident care by administering prescribed medications accurately and compassionately. The role requires consistency, attention to detail, and a professional, team-oriented approach. Medication administration includes prescribed oral, topical (on unbroken skin), and rectal medications, in accordance with physician’s orders and company policy. The aide monitors residents for adverse medication reactions and changes in status, documents medication administration, maintains control of the medication cart, follows infection-control procedures, protects resident confidentiality, and promptly reports medication errors to the Charge Nurse.

Requirements

Hold a current Texas Medication Aide certification.
Have experience and competence in medication administration procedures.
Communicate clearly and demonstrate patience, discipline, and professionalism.
Pay close attention to detail and ensure accurate documentation.

Responsibilities

Administer prescribed oral, topical (on unbroken skin), and rectal medications according to physician’s orders and company policy.
Monitor residents for adverse medication reactions or changes in status and report them.
Record medication administration accurately and in compliance with policies.
Maintain control of the medication cart and help ensure a safe, hazard-free environment.
Safeguard the confidentiality of resident information.
Follow infection-control procedures during medication administration.
Immediately report medication errors to the Charge Nurse.
