The Certified Medication Aide (CMA) will be responsible for providing medication administration to residents under the direction of an RN. This includes assisting with personal hygiene, serving meals, feeding patients, ambulating, turning, and positioning patients, and providing fresh water and nourishment between meals. The CMA will also provide adjunct care such as administering enemas, douches, non-sterile dressings, surgical preps, ice packs, heat treatments, sits, and therapeutic baths, and applying restraints. Maintaining patient stability by checking vital signs and weight, testing urine, and recording intake and output information is also a key responsibility. The role involves documenting actions by completing forms, reports, logs, and records, maintaining work operations by following policies and procedures, and serving and protecting the hospital community by adhering to professional standards, hospital policies, and federal, state, and local requirements. Updating job knowledge through educational opportunities and maintaining licensure are also part of the role.
