This role involves assisting with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a provider (Physician or Advanced Practice Provider). The Certified Medical Assistant will also assist with treatments ordered by the provider as supervised by the provider or a registered nurse, and perform select clinical duties. Key responsibilities include interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, recording information on patient charts, and preparing treatment rooms. Basic clerical duties such as answering phones, maintaining records, and filing are also part of the role. Additionally, the position involves basic materials management, including ordering and stocking supplies, and maintaining a clean and orderly environment. The role may also involve documenting the provider's encounter with patients, listing diagnoses and symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as indicated by the provider, as well as transcribing patient orders for laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.
