About The Position

Sentara Endocrinology Specialists is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant in Williamsburg, VA. This position is Monday through Friday, 40 hours per week, from 8 AM to 5 PM, with floating as needed and mileage reimbursement offered. The Certified Medical Assistant performs patient care and administrative/clerical tasks under the supervision of a physician, NP/PA, RN, or LPN. They are responsible for maintaining a safe environment for patients, visitors, and employees, and for performing patient care tasks and administrative duties as appropriate. The role requires objective assessment skills, the ability to consider alternatives, assist in developing action plans, and evaluate outcomes. The Certified Medical Assistant must demonstrate specific skills and knowledge required for medical assistants, effective inter-departmental interactions, and adherence to department and system policies and procedures. Efficiency in daily operations and responsible utilization of resources are also key aspects of this role.

Requirements

• High School Diploma OR equivalency
• Certified Medical Assistant
• Registered Medical Assistant
• Certified Clinical Medical Assistant
• Certified EMT (EMT-B)
• BLS within 90 days of hire date
• Phlebotomy experience Highly Preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs patient care and administrative/clerical related tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
• Provides an environment for safety; identifies, addresses, and incorporates principles of safety for the patient, visitors, and employees.
• Provides patient care tasks and procedures and administrative duties (as appropriate).
• Demonstrates the ability to objectively assess a specific situation from a few viewpoints considers an array of alternatives, assists with the development of realistic action plans and evaluates outcomes.
• Demonstrates the development of the specific skills and knowledge required of medical assistants, effective inter-departmental interactions, and ability to follow department and system policies, procedures, and practices.
• Productive and efficient in daily operations.
• Utilizes appropriate resources that are safe, effective, ethical, and fiscally responsible.
