Requirements
- Graduate of a medical assisting program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES) or Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education (CAAHEP)
- Successfully completed Medication Aide 40-hour course or current/valid Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association

Responsibilities
- Taking vitals
- Preparing exam rooms
- Ensuring exam rooms are clean and stocked
- Calming nervous children and listening to adults
- Gathering medical histories
- Preparing patients for their provider
- Accurately documenting patient information, test results, and treatment plans in the EMR system
- Collecting specimens
- Processing lab orders
- Ensuring accuracy of lab orders and specimens
- Relaying messages between patients, providers, and other healthcare professionals
