About The Position

High Desert Medical Group is seeking a full-time Certified Medical Assistant to work in their Senior Wellness Center. The candidate will be responsible for a variety of clinical tasks including taking vital signs, performing EKGs, spirometry, Dexa Scan, Quantaflow screening, drawing blood, administering injections, educating patients, and assisting providers with procedures. The role also involves adhering to clinical guidelines, rooming and discharging patients, and being cross-trained in front and back-office duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, and verifying eligibility. The position requires the ability to travel to local provider offices in the Antelope Valley.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • National or California state certification in Medical Assisting
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to handle and prioritize tasks in order to meet all given deadlines and productivity goals.
  • Ability to responsibly handle matters of a confidential nature.
  • Ability to work in a multi-task, high demand environment.
  • Reliable, detail focused, accurate, organized, ability to multi-task and prioritize to meet deadlines, excellent written and verbal communication skills and medical terminology experience.

Nice To Haves

  • One year experience in a physician office or clinic preferred.
  • One year of health care experience preferred.
  • Spanish bilingual level 2 preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assist patients to exam rooms and obtain complete and accurate vital signs.
  • Obtain and document all pertinent information in patient's charts.
  • Anticipate, assist, and perform procedures ordered by the provider.
  • Maintain timely patient flow and room availability.
  • Maintain patient safety and confidentiality.
  • Reinforce patient education and participate in patient teaching.
  • Stock and maintain exam rooms, nursing stations, and individual workstations.
  • Assist with training and orientation of new personnel.
  • Perform other duties assigned.
