Under the direction of the health care provider, is responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes the safety and well being of all patients. Accurately performs preliminary physical tests such as: measuring blood pressure, recording weight, temperature, pulse and respiration and other measures as directed by established clinical protocols. The Certified Medical Assistant role involves performing general patient care, greeting and preparing patients for the healthcare provider, obtaining and recording vital signs, administering ordered medications and/or vaccines, drawing and collecting blood samples, scheduling diagnostic testing, documenting patient plans of care, communicating with patients regarding test results, preparing and sterilizing instruments, maintaining equipment, and keeping exam rooms stocked, clean, and orderly. The role may also involve front office duties and other assigned tasks.
