The Certified Medical Assistant will deliver care to patients utilizing the Certified Medical Assistant Process. This role performs general patient care by following established standards and procedures, greets and prepares patients for the health care provider, and obtains and records vital signs. The Medical Assistant administers ordered medications and/or vaccines, may draw and collect blood samples, perform routine tests such as EKG, and schedules patients for diagnostic testing. This role documents patient plans of care, tests, and examination results in the medical record. The Certified Medical Assistant communicates with patients regarding test results and plan of care, prepares, cleans, and sterilizes instruments, and maintains equipment. They escalate non-routine issues to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s) and ensures safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required. This role provides for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights. The Certified Medical Assistant may work in the front office as needed, as well as perform other duties as assigned.
