About The Position
VitalCore Health Strategies (VCHS), an industry leader in correctional healthcare, has openings for a Full-Time Certified Medical Assistant at Sussex Correctional Institution located in Georgetown, DE. This role is for individuals passionate about people and providing quality services in a positive work environment based on respect and appreciation. The Certified Medical Assistant assists Physicians and Nurses to meet the health care needs of patients.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Must have active National Certification as a Medical Assistant (Certificate of completion/ Diploma & Certification as Phlebotomist are not accepted)
- Subject to initial and ongoing security clearance requirements
Nice To Haves
- Phlebotomy experience preferred
- Acute care experience preferred.
- MAT experience preferred
Responsibilities
- Takes vital signs, height and weight.
- Assists with PPDs and EKGs.
- Draws blood.
- Measures and records intake and output.
- Assists with patient treatments such as dressing changes, decubitus ulcer, and tracheostomy care.
- Adheres to Universal Precaution procedures and established Infection Control procedures.
- Schedules appointments.
- Adheres to safety and security policies and participates in disaster drills.
- Is proficient with CPR and recognizes need to implement. Receive re-certification training annually.
- Assists in cleaning, sterilizing and securing of equipment.
- Follows security regulations for keys, sharps, and controlled medications.
