The Certified Medical Assistant will deliver care to patients utilizing the Certified Medical Assistant Process. This role performs general patient care by following established standards and procedures, greets and prepares patients for the health care provider, and obtains and records vital signs. The Medical Assistant will administer ordered medications and/or vaccines, may draw and collect blood samples, perform routine tests such as EKG, and schedule patients for diagnostic testing. This role documents patient plans of care, tests, and examination results in the medical record, and communicates with patients regarding test results and plan of care. The Medical Assistant is responsible for preparing, cleaning, and sterilizing instruments, maintaining equipment, and disposing of contaminated items. They will keep patient exam rooms stocked, clean, and orderly, and escalate non-routine issues to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s). This role ensures safety checklists/quality controls are completed as required and provides for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights. The Medical Assistant may also work in the front office as needed and perform other duties as assigned.
