The Certified Medical Assistant will deliver care to patients utilizing the Certified Medical Assistant process. This role performs general patient care by following established standards and procedures, greets and prepares patients for the health care provider, and obtains and records vital signs. The CMA will administer ordered medications and/or vaccines, may be required to draw and collect blood samples and perform routine tests such as EKG, and schedules patients for diagnostic testing. This position documents patient plans of care, tests, and examination results in the medical record, and communicates with patients regarding test results and plan of care. The CMA will also prepare, clean, and sterilize instruments, maintain equipment, and keep patient exam rooms stocked, clean, and orderly. This role escalates non-routine issues to the practice manager or healthcare provider(s), ensures safety checklists/quality controls are completed, and provides for patient safety and protection of patient privacy rights. The CMA may also work in the front office and perform other duties as assigned.
