About The Position

MUSC Community Physicians (MCP), an entity within the Medical University of South Carolina, provides healthcare to patients in South Carolina’s rural health network. The Certified Medical Assistant performs multi-skilled activities in support of a decentralized, patient-centered approach to care and assists with patient examination and treatment under a physician’s direction. This PRN position is with Horry County Occupational Health & Wellness and reports to the Outpatient Clinic Manager.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Certification through AMT, AAMA, NHA, MedCA, or NAHP as a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) or Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), as applicable.
Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association or a recognized equivalent, or American Red Cross CPR/AED for Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Provider.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to understand and implement detailed instructions for therapeutic procedures and make accurate physical observations of patients.
Effective verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

Completion of an accredited medical assisting program.
One year of patient care experience.

Responsibilities

Interview patients.
Measure vital signs, including pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height.
Record or input information into patients’ medical records.
Prepare treatment rooms for patient examinations.
Assist in the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a physician.
Maintain required annual competencies.
