Certified Medical Assistant (PRN)
About The Position
ALABAMA REGIONAL MEDICAL SERVICES is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to provide patient care and support the medical team in a patient-centered healthcare environment. The role includes preparing patients for examinations, assisting clinicians with procedures, performing phlebotomy and routine laboratory tasks, administering specified medications and injections, providing wound care and patient education, and maintaining an organized clinical environment. The position also supports basic diagnostic X-rays and administrative tasks. Services include adult primary health care, pediatrics, women’s health, optometry, and behavioral health. This is a PRN opportunity with shifts available Monday through Friday, in durations of 4 to 8 hours. The listed pay is $20.00 per hour. All experience levels are welcome to apply.
Requirements
- Current Medical Assistant Certification.
- Current BLS/CPR certification; an official certification card must be provided.
- Valid Alabama Driver’s License and an insurable driving record.
Nice To Haves
- Graduate of an accredited Medical Assistant program with a current NHA Medical Assistant Certification (CCMA required).
- Two years of experience working as a Certified Medical Assistant and one year of clinical laboratory experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Welcome and prepare patients for examinations, collect medical histories, and record vital signs.
- Assist physicians and nurse practitioners with examinations and procedures.
- Perform phlebotomy, collect and label laboratory specimens, and conduct routine laboratory tests.
- Administer specified medications and injections as directed.
- Provide wound care and educate patients about medications and preventive care.
- Maintain a clean and organized clinical environment.
- Perform basic diagnostic X-rays.
- Support administrative tasks such as scheduling, billing, and patient follow-up.
