Under the direction of the healthcare provider, the Certified Medical Assistant is responsible for the delivery of patient care that promotes the safety and well-being of all patients. This role accurately performs preliminary physical tests such as measuring blood pressure, recording weight, temperature, pulse, and respiration, and other measures as directed by established clinical protocols. The position may involve general patient care, preparing patients for appointments, administering medications and vaccines, drawing blood samples, performing routine tests like EKGs, scheduling diagnostic tests, documenting patient care plans, communicating test results, sterilizing instruments, maintaining exam rooms, and escalating issues as needed. The role also ensures safety checklists are completed, protects patient privacy, and may assist with front office duties.
