About The Position

Urology Clinics of North Texas is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to provide clinical support to physicians and APPs in delivering patient care and administrative support. This role primarily operates in the Plano clinic but requires travel to other locations as needed.   • Basic computer skills and understanding of EMR/PM and Document Management Systems.
  • Maintain MA certification and required CEUs.
  • Active Certified Clinical Medical Assistant Certification.

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical support to physicians and APPs.
  • Perform administrative support tasks.
  • Open the clinic, including unlocking doors, turning on lights, starting computers, chart prep, and testing urine controls.
  • Schedule surgeries.
  • Maintain efficient patient flow.
  • Answer incoming calls and discuss acute symptoms with physicians when necessary.
  • Return patient calls and process prescriptions in a timely manner.
  • Process and document all prescriptions in the EHR.
  • Document calls and outside communications in the patient's EHR record.
  • Perform assigned tests and tasks.
  • Prepare and assist the Provider with exams and procedures.
  • Clean, prepare, and stock exam rooms, lab area, and restrooms daily.
  • Prepare specimens for the lab.
  • Adhere to the lab insurance matrix for all specimens.
  • Administer injections and draw blood using aseptic technique.
  • Clean, disinfect, and sterilize instruments daily.
  • Perform catheterization using sterile technique.
  • Document all necessary MA workflow in the appropriate EHR templates.
  • Complete reports for missing results.
  • Complete all logs required by OSHA (exam room cleaning, freezer temp, eye wash station, fridge temp).
  • Manage and maintain CLIA requirements.
  • Manage and maintain all OSHA standards.
  • Maintain stock of all medical supplies and place orders or notify Administrator of needs.
  • Complete/process all prior authorizations for medications.
  • Complete/process all Title 19s.
  • Complete Letter of Medical Necessity.
  • Perform chart take down daily/weekly.
  • Place PHI and unsorted reports in appropriate scan bins.
  • Ensure all chart notes are in patient charts weekly and shred dictation notes.
  • Stock exam room and provider files weekly or daily as needed.
  • Perform weekly spore testing for the autoclave.
  • Maintain cystoscope pressure testing/cleaning/sterilization station daily with documentation.
  • Clean and maintain the supply and sample cabinet.
  • Notify call center of physician schedule changes.
  • Complete all patient phone calls by the end of each day.
  • Schedule outpatient or inpatient surgeries or services.
  • Perform any tasks, duties, or special projects as assigned by the Administrator.

Benefits

  • $1,000 bonus (paid in two payments: $500 at 6 months, $500 at 1 year, contingent on good standing and meeting expectations on evaluations).
