Requirements

  • Knowledge of medical terminology
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy
  • Basic clinical and laboratory skills
  • Proficiency with electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Minimum 2 years prior experience as a Medical Assistant
  • Completion of an accredited Medical Assistant program
  • Current CPR/BLS certification preferred

Responsibilities

  • Take and record vital signs (blood pressure, temperature, pulse, respiration)
  • Prepare patients for examinations and procedures
  • Assist physicians during exams and minor procedures
  • Administer medications and injections as directed
  • Perform basic laboratory tests (e.g., urinalysis)
  • Collect and prepare specimens for laboratory testing
  • Perform EKGs and other diagnostic tests
  • Maintain infection control and sterilize equipment
  • Document patient information in electronic health records (EHR)
  • Keep exam rooms stocked with adequate medical supplies, maintain instruments, prepare sterilization as required
  • Maintain all logs and required checks (i.e. refrigerator temperatures, emergency medications, expired medications, oxygen, cold sterilization fluid change, etc.)
  • Ensure all related reports, labs and information is filed is available in patients’ medical records prior to their appointment
  • Triage and process messages from patients and front office staff to Providers
