About The Position

Sentara Endocrinology Specialists is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant for their Williamsburg, VA location. This is a full-time, Monday through Friday position, working 8 AM to 5 PM, with potential for floating and mileage reimbursement. The Certified Medical Assistant performs patient care and administrative/clerical tasks under the supervision of a healthcare provider. They are responsible for maintaining a safe environment, performing patient care procedures, and administrative duties. The role requires objective assessment skills, effective inter-departmental interaction, adherence to policies, and efficient daily operations. Utilization of resources should be safe, effective, ethical, and fiscally responsible.

Requirements

• High School Diploma OR equivalency
• Must have one of the following on the first day of employment: Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified EMT (EMT-B)
• BLS within 90 days of hire date
• Phlebotomy experience Highly Preferred

Responsibilities

• Performs patient care and administrative/clerical related tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
• Provides an environment for safety; identifies, addresses, and incorporates principles of safety for the patient, visitors, and employees.
• Provides patient care tasks and procedures and administrative duties (as appropriate).
• Demonstrates the ability to objectively assess a specific situation from a few viewpoints considers an array of alternatives, assists with the development of realistic action plans and evaluates outcomes.
• Demonstrates the development of the specific skills and knowledge required of medical assistants, effective inter-departmental interactions, and ability to follow department and system policies, procedures, and practices.
• Productive and efficient in daily operations.
• Utilizes appropriate resources that are safe, effective, ethical, and fiscally responsible.
