Works under general supervision of physician and/or APP to provide clinical support to physicians and APPs in delivery of patient clinical care and administrative support. The role involves opening the clinic, maintaining patient flow, answering calls, processing prescriptions, preparing and assisting with exams and procedures, stocking and cleaning exam rooms, preparing specimens, administering injections, drawing blood, sterilizing instruments, performing catheterization, documenting workflow in EHR, completing reports and logs for OSHA and CLIA, managing medical supplies, processing prior authorizations and other necessary paperwork, and performing chart take-down. The position also requires maintaining a basic understanding of urology-related terminology, medications, procedures, and instruments, analyzing and prioritizing information, utilizing good communication and interpersonal skills, maintaining positive working relationships, performing tasks with independent judgment, maintaining a professional appearance, multi-tasking with attention to detail, and possessing knowledge of medical office methods and procedures. Specific skills include specimen collection, vital signs, urinalysis, catheterization, and instrument sterilization. Basic computer skills and familiarity with EMR/PM and Document Management Systems are necessary. The role requires maintaining MA certification and required CEUs.
