About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant provides direct, age-specific care to a patient or group of patients based on medical orders and the plan of care under the direction of the physician. This role requires individuals to work all three shifts, weekends, and holidays, with schedules subject to adjustment based on clinic needs. The position involves handling, transporting, accessing, and/or contacting medications and related supplies. The Certified Medical Assistant functions under the direction of a licensed independent practitioner, manager, and/or RN in providing patient care, emotional support, and problem-solving, all in accordance with hospital, nursing, and unit policy/procedure. Independent actions require prior approval or guidance from a supervisor for time/schedule changes, legal issues, directed care deviating from standard, and identifying educational resources. The role serves all age-specific groups.

Requirements

• Current Medical Assistant Certification through a recognized national professional association (e.g., American Association of Medical Assistants, American Medical Technologists, The National Association of Healthcare Professions, the American Registry of Medical Assistants, or the National Healthcare Association).
• One (1) year of medical assistant work experience within the last three (3) years if individual is not a graduate of a medical assistant program.
• No work experience required if individual is a graduate of a medical assistant program.
• Previous experience using a personal computer and various software applications, including Microsoft, e-mail, etc.
• Demonstrated experience utilizing strong organizational, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills.
• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to work all three shifts, weekends and holidays.
• Lifting 20-50 lbs.
• Prolonged standing, prolonged sitting, frequent bending, walking (distance), climbing (steps, ladder, other), reaching (overhead, extensive, repetitive).
• Strong recall, reasoning, problem solving, hearing, ability to speak clearly, write legibly, reading, logical thinking.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
• Ability to handle multiple priorities.
• Ability to adapt to frequent change.

Nice To Haves

• Two (2) to three (3) years of previous experience as a Certified Medical Assistant.
• Previous experience in an academic health care environment.
• Graduation from a Medical Assisting training program from an accredited program of study such as the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES).

Benefits

• Compensation Range: $19.00 - $28.51
• Actual salary offers will be based on several key factors to include relevant work experience, credentials, and qualifications.
