About The Position
Provides general medical care to patients in an outpatient clinic under the direction of a licensed provider. The position works directly with a franchised business location, so specific job duties and benefits may vary between franchises. American Family Care (AFC) provides walk-in primary and urgent care services seven days a week. Its centers treat acute illnesses and injuries and provide workers' compensation and occupational medicine services. Each location has an onsite laboratory and in-house x-ray capability. AFC is the parent company of AFC Franchising, LLC (AFCF).
Requirements
- Associate degree or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or six months to one year of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Nice To Haves
- AMT registration.
- AAMA Certified Medical Assistant credential.
Responsibilities
- Obtain patient vital signs and medical history, determine the reason for the visit, and prepare patients for physical examinations.
- Explain prescribed procedures and treatments to patients.
- Ensure ordered tests are performed accurately and promptly.
- Administer prescribed medications and treatments according to approved procedures.
- Draw blood and prepare laboratory tests for reference-lab or in-house processing.
- Perform laboratory tests and lab-quality controls, and maintain equipment according to written instructions.
- Respond to laboratory messages and callback requests.
- Perform drug-screening procedures in accordance with established rules and regulations.
- Document and administer patient immunizations according to approved procedures.
- Conduct physician referrals and service pre-certifications as needed.
- Prepare examination rooms and sterilize instruments, equipment, and supplies for procedures.
- Maintain complete and accurate documentation.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
