About The Position

The Orange County Health Department has an opening for a Certified Medical Assistant. The work is primarily responsible for supporting the nurses, physicians and Advanced Practice Providers in the medical clinic, provide patient intake, prepare exam rooms, and perform lab duties as back up for the laboratory technician as needed. This position performs a variety of tasks, including but not limited to, direct patient care, preparing examination rooms, assisting with laboratory duties, vaccine administration, client education, and treatments as directed by providers. Work is performed under the general supervision of the Nursing Supervisor with some leeway to exercise independent judgment within the framework of applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures in the performance of duties. Supervision is not a responsibility of this class. Does related work as required. Our goal is to be a diverse workforce that is representative, at all job levels, of the residents we serve. Requirements

• Graduation from High School or General Educational Development (GED) test equivalency
• Vocational/technical training in an CAAHEP or ABHES-accredited Associate’s degree, certificate or diploma medical assistant program
• One (1) year of medical office experience
• Possession of the Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) credential through the American Association of Medical Assistants
• Possession of or ability to readily obtain a valid driver’s license issued by the State of North Carolina for the type of vehicle or equipment operated
• Must be able to satisfy ongoing continuing education requirements

• Bilingual in Spanish is strongly preferred
