About The Position

Seeking a Certified Medical Assistant to join our team at Rocking Horse Community Health Center (RHCHC), a Federally Qualified Health Center (FQHC) serving vulnerable populations. This role is for our Family Practice area at the Madison location. The Certified Medical Assistant will assist medical and/or nursing staff with patient examinations and treatments, including taking vitals, drawing blood, administering immunizations and medications, completing medication refills, and assisting with patient education. Previous experience with clinical procedures is required. This is a mission-driven organization offering a generous compensation package.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
  • Ohio certification through NHA or AAMA
  • Certification of satisfactory completion of a Medical Assisting program
  • Current driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos
  • Ability to write simple correspondence
  • Ability to effectively communicate information one-on-one and in small group situations to patients, clients and other employees of the organization
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals
  • Ability to compute ratios and percentages to draw and interpret bar graphs
  • General computing knowledge
  • Ability to utilize Microsoft Office applications
  • Working knowledge of sanitation, personal hygiene and basic health and safety precautions applicable for work in a clinic setting
  • Working knowledge of infection control procedures and safety procedures
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients and clinic staff
  • Required to understand and adhere to the privacy policies and procedures regarding Patient Health Information (PHI)

Nice To Haves

  • One (1) to Three (3) years’ experience in a Healthcare setting
  • Experience working with an Electronic Health Record Program
  • Certification from the American Association of Medical Assistants or other certifying organization

Responsibilities

  • Assists medical and/or nursing staff in the examination and treatment of patients
  • Takes patient vitals
  • Performs blood draws
  • Administers immunization and medications including injections
  • Completes medication refills
  • Assists with patient education as required
