About The Position

The Certified Medical Assistant I-IV provides medical assistance under the supervision of the physician, physician's assistant, or nursing staff. This role is within the Correctional Health division and involves night shifts. JPS Health Network is a large healthcare system in North Texas, committed to providing high-quality, compassionate clinical care. The Acclaim Multispecialty Group is the medical practice group serving the network, with a focus on operational, financial, and clinical performance.

Requirements

  • Current JPS recognized Basic Life Support (BLS) certification and must be maintained throughout employment.
  • Current certification from a national registry as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) or a Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA).
  • Certification in Non-Aggressive Crisis Management; must be obtained while in department orientation and maintained throughout employment when working within the Behavioral Health Department.
  • 4743 Certified Medical Assistant I: 0-1.99 years of relevant experience.
  • 4744 Certified Medical Assistant II: 2-4.99 years of relevant experience.
  • 4745 Certified Medical Assistant III: 5-9.99 years of relevant experience.
  • 4746 Certified Medical Assistant IV: 10+ years of relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of a Medical Assistant training program.
  • Certification in Non-Aggressive Crisis Management; must be obtained while in department orientation and maintained throughout employment when working within the Behavioral Health setting.

Responsibilities

  • Assists with patient care by completing screening questions, medication reviews, obtaining vital signs, and recording height, weight, and other patient data as required.
  • Prepares exam space for scheduled procedures.
  • Documents all care provided in the electronic medical record.
  • Delivers care appropriate for the patient’s age and development.
  • Ensures exam rooms, supply rooms and other areas of the clinic are clean and well stocked.
  • Cleans equipment according to instructions for use and ensures equipment has current safety inspection dates.
  • Assists with scheduling appointments, completes electronic patient messages, medication refill requests and patient forms.
  • Collects lab specimens as directed.
  • Administers approved medications as directed.
