About The Position

SMG Family Medicine is seeking a Certified Medical Assistant in Suffolk, VA. This role involves performing patient care and administrative/clerical tasks under the supervision of a physician or licensed healthcare professional. The Medical Assistant is responsible for maintaining a safe environment, performing patient care procedures, and handling administrative duties. They must demonstrate the ability to assess situations, develop action plans, and evaluate outcomes. Efficiency, adherence to policies, and responsible resource utilization are key. New graduates are welcome to apply, and a sign-on bonus of up to $5,000 is available for qualified candidates.

Requirements

• High School Diploma OR equivalency
• Must have one of the following one on the first day of employment: Certified Medical Assistant, Registered Medical Assistant, Certified Clinical Medical Assistant, Certified EMT (EMT-B)
• BLS within 90 days of hire date

• Phlebotomy experience

Responsibilities

• Performs patient care and administrative/clerical related tasks and procedures based on training, education, and competency evaluations, and as delegated by and under the direction/supervision of the Physician, Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant (NP/PA), Registered Nurse (RN), or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN).
• Provides an environment for safety; identifies, addresses, and incorporates principles of safety for the patient, visitors, and employees.
• Provides patient care tasks and procedures and administrative duties (as appropriate).
• Demonstrates the ability to objectively assess a specific situation from a few viewpoints considers an array of alternatives, assists with the development of realistic action plans and evaluates outcomes.
• Demonstrates the development of the specific skills and knowledge required of medical assistants, effective inter-departmental interactions, and ability to follow department and system policies, procedures, and practices.
• Productive and efficient in daily operations.
• Utilizes appropriate resources that are safe, effective, ethical, and fiscally responsible.
