About The Position

To provide friendly, professional, and high-quality support to CompleteCare’s providers within a team-based, patient-centered medical home model of care. This role involves assisting providers, managing schedules, registering patients, preparing patients for examinations, assisting during examinations, administering vaccines, completing referrals, and ensuring the clinical area is clean, orderly, and stocked. The position also requires adherence to HIPAA guidelines, problem-solving, and collaboration with the healthcare team to meet performance improvement goals.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Graduate of an approved Medical Assistant program.
  • 1 – 2 years of experience in a healthcare setting.
  • MA certification required within 6 months of employment.
  • CPR certified.
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with all members of the healthcare team.
  • Commitment to professional growth and development in a dynamic, forward-thinking organization.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in the role of every medical emergency.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with electronic medical records preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide services to patients while ensuring a safe environment of care.
  • Reduce risks of nosocomial infections in patients, employees, and visitors.
  • Embody friendly and courteous customer service with both patients and staff.
  • Act as an active participant in the healthcare team, working together with all levels of staff to ensure the best care possible for patients.
  • Work with the team to meet specific healthcare performance improvement goals.
  • Adhere to all applicable HIPAA guidelines to ensure confidentiality of patient information.
  • Problem-solve issues as they arise in a proactive and positive manner.
  • Organize and prioritize tasks as assigned.
  • Work with supervisor to plan departmental activities, evaluate data and make suggestions for improvement.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly workspace and efficiently utilize supplies.
  • Manage assigned provider’s schedule to ensure optimization of patient access.
  • Communicate with the provider about patients to be seen.
  • Greet patients and escort them to exam rooms.
  • Identify patients and confirm medical records.
  • Schedule appointments as necessary.
  • Register patients and collect all required information.
  • Prepare patient records for the provider.
  • Prepare patients for exam by collecting relevant medical history, information about visits, vital signs, and instructing patients on preparation for exam procedures.
  • Assist the provider during examination.
  • Select and complete all required forms for each medical screening.
  • Guide patients through their visit.
  • Administer vaccines and complete referrals as needed.
  • Communicate the status of the patient with other members of the healthcare team.
  • Assure medical charts are returned.
  • Properly dispose of soiled equipment and laundry and prepare regulated medical waste.
  • Transport and retrieve instruments safely and prepare for sterilization.
  • Keep the clinical area clean, orderly, and stocked with supplies.
  • Open and close the clinical area according to assignment.
  • Assist the Practice Manager, Head Nurse or Charge Nurse with other tasks and projects as required on an as-needed basis.
  • May require lifting/assisting patients.
  • Work with hazardous and bio-hazardous materials.
  • Requires walking/standing for long periods of time.
  • Perform additional job duties as assigned.
