About The Position

iTrust Wellness is seeking an actively certified Medical Assistant to join their outpatient mental health practice in Anderson, SC. This role is primarily patient services-focused (approximately 70%) with a smaller clinical component (approximately 30%). It is ideal for someone with a strong interest in mental health, excellent communication skills, and a passion for delivering outstanding patient experiences in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. This position blends front-office coordination with limited clinical responsibilities to support providers and ensure a seamless patient experience.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current Certified or Registered Medical Assistant credential (in accordance with state laws), maintained in good standing
  • Current CPR/BLS certification
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Knowledge of HIPAA and patient confidentiality standards

Nice To Haves

  • Experience or interest in the mental health field
  • Previous experience in a front desk, patient services, or administrative role in healthcare settings
  • Familiarity with EMR systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Teams)
  • Experience in a private practice or outpatient setting

Responsibilities

  • Managing incoming and outgoing patient communication (phone calls, messages, and other correspondence) and documenting interactions accurately
  • Scheduling, rescheduling, and confirming appointments
  • Checking patients in and out, collecting payments, and coordinating follow-up appointments
  • Assisting patients with general questions regarding services, forms, and office policies
  • Gaining proficiency in the EMR system to enhance workflow and patient satisfaction
  • Completing prior authorization requests for medications
  • Communicating with pharmacies and other medical offices regarding prescriptions and care coordination
  • Maintaining accurate patient records in accordance with HIPAA guidelines
  • Collaborating closely with providers and administrative staff to ensure smooth daily operations
  • Supporting company culture and upholding organizational values
  • Assisting with staffing needs at other iTrust Wellness locations as needed
  • Performing additional duties as assigned
  • Collecting vital signs as needed
  • Administering clinical testing, including UDS panels and GeneSight swabs
  • Preparing and administering injectable medications when required
  • Maintaining clinical supplies and medication inventory
  • Maintaining active certification
