About The Position

Raleigh Medical Group is seeking a detail-oriented and patient-focused Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) to support our Gastroenterology team. This role provides clinical support to physicians, advanced practice providers, and nursing staff while assisting patients with gastrointestinal care, treatment coordination, and specialty procedures. The CMA plays an important role in delivering exceptional patient experiences through clinical support, patient education, procedure coordination, and effective communication with patients and healthcare teams.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent
  • Current CMA certification from an accredited organization
  • Minimum one year of medical office or clinical experience
  • Experience utilizing electronic health record (EHR) systems
  • Strong communication, organizational, and multitasking skills
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced clinical environment
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification

Nice To Haves

  • Previous gastroenterology, or specialty clinic experience preferred
  • Experience coordinating specialty procedures, referrals, or prior authorizations preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides direct patient care and clinical support as delegated by licensed clinical staff
  • Rooms and prepares patients for examinations, office visits, and GI-related evaluations and procedures
  • Obtains and documents patient medical histories, medications, allergies, vital signs, and gastrointestinal health information
  • Assists physicians and advanced practice providers during examinations, and minor medical procedures
  • Documents patient assessments, interventions, medications, and test results accurately in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Processes non-emergent patient calls and communicates provider-guided clinical information appropriately
  • Assists with scheduling GI procedures, diagnostic testing, referrals, imaging, and specialty appointments
  • Facilitates prior authorizations, referrals, and managed care requirements as needed
  • Processes prescription refill requests following provider direction and established protocols
  • Reinforces patient education regarding medications, dietary instructions, bowel preparation instructions, treatment plans, and follow-up care
  • Maintains exam rooms, equipment, and supplies to support efficient clinic operations
  • Adheres to OSHA, HIPAA, infection prevention, safety, and confidentiality policies
  • Assists clinical staff during emergency situations as needed
  • Performs additional duties as assigned.
