About The Position

This role involves assisting with the examination and treatment of patients under the direction of a provider (Physician or Advanced Practice Provider). The Certified Medical Assistant will also assist with treatments ordered by the provider as supervised by the provider or registered nurse, and perform select clinical duties. Key responsibilities include interviewing patients, measuring vital signs, recording information on patient charts, preparing treatment rooms, and performing basic clerical duties such as answering the phone, maintaining records, and filing. The role also includes basic materials management functions like ordering and stocking supplies, assisting with maintaining a clean and orderly environment, and potentially documenting the provider's encounter with patients. Additionally, the assistant will list proper diagnoses and symptoms, follow-up instructions, and prescriptions as indicated by the provider, and transcribe patient orders for laboratory tests, radiology tests, and medications.

Requirements

  • BLS Provider obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date required. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Medical Assistant obtained within 6 Months (180 days) of hire date or job transfer date required.
  • High School diploma equivalency OR 1 year of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
  • Required professional licensure/certification can be used in lieu of education or experience, if applicable

Responsibilities

  • May document the provider's encounter with patients.
  • List all proper diagnoses and symptoms, as well as follow-up instructions and prescriptions, as indicated by the provider.
  • Transcribe patient orders including, but not limited to, laboratory tests, radiology tests and medications.
